Speech at Exter UUC

It is a pleasure to be here with you this morning.  You know a little bit about me, but I unfortunately know next to nothing about you, what you come to this place feeling or fearing, believing or not believing.

I hope you forgive me for reading what I will say – it will prevent me from digressing, which I tend to do!

Rickey Holt asked me to come and participate in your service this morning, because I am a member of September 11th Families for Peaceful Tomorrows.  He initially asked me to talk about the war in Iraq.

I am not an expert on the war and cannot pretend to be. I beleive the Iraq War is a symptom of some much larger issue about the way we live in this world and how we see ourselves in relation to other human beings.

I can only speak about those things that I believe to be true … about my life, my concerns, my hopes for a sane and safe world for all the earth
