Speaking Out Against Hateful Political Speech

NOVEMBER 2019

Guantanamo Committee: PT member, Nancy Meyer, traveled to Guantanamo and observed the pretrials there from October 28 – November 1. As she followed the verbal exchanges between the lawyers in the room, she concludes:

“That moment however brief, was the most telling of the entire week. It encapsulated the disingenuous nature of some of the prosecution’s claims that they have shared anything and everything available to them.”

In The Media: Published on the anniversary of the U.S. invasion of Afghanistan, Ellen Judd, chair of our Afghanistan Committee writes:

“On this anniversary of the start of that war, we face a continuing war in Afghanistan resulting in more death and injury to civilians in armed conflict than anywhere on Earth, continued losses of Afghan and American troops and an unstable ground within Afghanistan that provides haven for Al Qaeda, ISIS and more than a dozen additional armed groups. There continues to be no military solution that offers peace and security within or beyond the boundaries of Afghanistan.”

November 15: “The Report” is being released nationwide and we HIGHLY recommend this film. It is based on the 2014 Senate Intelligence report on CIA interrogation and detention. The film graphically portrays the extent to which the CIA crossed the lines of legality, morality, decency, and honor. CLICK HERE to view the trailer.
