PT Statement Regarding Detainees at Guantanamo and the NDAA 2013

Statement of September 11th Families for Peaceful Tomorrows Regarding
Detainees at Guantanamo and the NDAA 2013

As family members and loved ones of those killed on September 11th, we
have an iron willed commitment to justice for those who perpetrated the
9-11 murders. True justice requires no boundaries, nor political
machination.
As such, we demand that Congress cease its search for restrictions
concerning transfer of the Guantanamo detainees to United States soil.
The actual ground upon which these men will be tried matters very little.
Nor does the location of the courtroom. It is the judicial process that
matters most, requiring fair, transparent, and open trials.
September 11th Families chooses not to fear the Guantanamo detainees. Our
worst fears were confronted more than eleven years ago. Congress – do not
hinder our judicial system by legitimizing fear through legislation that
would curtail possible movement of the Guantanamo detainees.
