No War With Iran!

JANUARY 2020

Guantánamo Committee:
This year’s Justice Now: Close Guantánamo & End Torture Rally is happening on January 11 at 1pm. Together with Witness Against Torture we are co-sponsoring the annual vigil held in Washington, DC. The US detention center at Guantánamo Bay has been open for over 17 years. 40 men remain imprisoned, 5 of whom are cleared for release. We were able to send 5 Peaceful Tomorrows members to Guantánamo last year so that they could attend the pretrials and be first hand witnesses.
Join PT’s Valerie Lucznikowska and others THIS Saturday, January 11, 2020 in DC!

In The Media:
The New York Daily News printed Adele Welty’s opinion piece on Dec 31, 2019:

“…I am stunned and shocked that we as a nation could revert to such primal responses to fear for our safety, that we would abandon every value this country claims to stand for, that we would ignore the concept of human rights and unravel the fabric of our way of life, and the rule of law.”

STAY CONNECTED:

Our colleagues at UFPJ urge us to please act now. E-mail or call your Senator and Representative asking them to support diplomacy and de-escalation  – NO WAR WITH IRAN! Congress needs to reassert its constitutional authority and demand diplomacy and de-escalation before this crisis explodes into open warfare. More actions to take can be found at Win Without War.

SOME OF OUR PARTNERS:

We head into a new decade with new opportunities and much work to be done: Afghanistan to Guantánamo, across each of our states, our nations, and our world. We count heavily on you, our supporter, to help fund our intern, one staff person and ALL VOLUNTEER advocacy.
