Message to Virginia Tech families and friends from INP

To the families and friends of those who were killed in the Virginia shooting,
On behalf of the International Network for Peace we would like to express our deepest condolences for your tragic loss.

On April 16th, the shootings at Virginia Tech echoed in our minds, returning us to our own defining moment of tragedy. The memories and feelings we first felt when violence took the lives of loved ones have come flooding back to us, and we feel a strong bond with you.

We know what it means to start down the path of mourning, accompanied by feelings of darkness, desperation and anger.

But we also want you to know that you are surrounded in affection by people of good will who have felt what you are feeling. We embrace you in our thoughts and hearts, and share the burden of your loss while at the same time keeping hopeful watch for the dawn of a new day, filled with peace.

In deepest sympathy

Jo Berry

“We, the International Network for peace are a global network of organizations comprised of people who lost loved ones to, or were directly affected by, war, nuclear weapons, terrorism, genocide, organized crime, and political violence. We work together to break the cycles of violence and revenge, and are committed to honoring the memories of the victims and to the dignity of the survivors. One of our tasks is to offer support and fellowship to all survivors of terrorism, violence and war across boundaries of geography, race, class, gender and faith, and encourage them to turn their grief into non-violent actions for peace
