Several PT members will be consulting with staff at the New York ACLU in mid July to discuss the upcoming motions and trial of the five men at Guantanamo accused of plotting the 9-11 attacks. PT NEWS:
Syria: PT members posted a statement on the PT website and facebook regarding the increasing violence in Syria.
“Members of Peaceful Tomorrows are anguished by the escalating violence in Syria and its devastating consequences for the people of Syria. We join our voices with others calling for:
- an immediate ceasefire
- an end to the shipment of arms and military supplies to Syria
- immediate and safe access by humanitarian aid agencies to all Syrian civilians
- urgent negotiations for a peaceful resolution in the interests of the people of Syria.”

Afghanistan Committee: Ellen Judd is now Chair of PT’s Afghanistan Committee and PT’s liaison with UFPJ’s Afghanistan Working Group. Please contact Ellen directly if you would like to join this committee or be added to the afghanistan@lists.peacefultomorrows.org list.
Rule of Law (RoL) Campaign: June was Torture Awareness Month. September 11th Families for Peaceful Tomorrows co-sponsored the campaign that included a march held in Washington, D.C. and activities held by partners across the country. International Network for Peace (INP): The idea of the INP was born during the 2006 International Conference organized by PT. Our website features parts 1, 2, 3 and 4 of a video taken during that conference. If you’d like to be informed about what is happening with the INP these days, please contact PT liaison to the INP, Andrea LeBlanc, moderator of the INP list or check for updates on the INP website.
INP Chair, Jo Berry, will be coming to the U.S. in November. She is scheduled to give a talk on “Making Peace with the Enemy” at the University of Connecticut on November 1 & 2. Andrea and other PT members in New England are working on finding additional venues for Jo to speak.
