Empathy and Compassion: the Ultimate Issues


Thank you for inviting me to come to speak with you today.  You know a bit about me already, but I know next to nothing about you, what you come here feeling or fearing, believing, or not believing … what you want to know. I would very much like to leave a little time at the end for questions from you.

I will begin by admiting that I actually have more questions than answers.  Since Sept. 11, 2001 when my road took a most decisive turn, the questions began and whenever I think have an answer,  new questions arise.  On that day everything that I thought about my future changed.  I began to wonder if what I thought I believed was in fact what I did believe … and the bigger question
