JUNE 2017
OUR WORK:
On May 8, PT submitted their testimony to the MA legislature against use of state police to enforce deportation of undocumented immigrants – H.3033 (An Act Relative to Enforcing Federal Law)” CLICK HERE to read the entire statement. Excerpts from our testimony are below:
…We honor the support of so many Muslim residents and visitors to the U.S. Their contributions as educators and students; emergency responders, police and peace-builders; researchers and workers across every field all make us stronger as we share information, cultures and knowledge – often saving one-another’s lives.
… We will not abide using our loved-ones memories to toss aside the values and the diversity of peoples that underlie what America, … , stands for – what truly makes it a great nation. We will not cede these values to the threat of terrorism or to political expediency…”
PT allies, the Afghan Peace Volunteers, responded to the dropping of a massive ordnance bomb on Nangarhar, Afghanistan in May with a message to be found at Our Journey To Smile.
Tides Together: Did you know that the NGO Working Group on Women, Peace and Security and the Watchlist on Children and Armed Conflict are sister organizations? These are among other Tides Projects that Gloria Williams, Terry G and Katharina met during a cross-project gathering May 17th sponsored by the Tides Center. Skills on social marketing, strategic planning, and fundraising were shared by prominent experts. Let the office know if you’d like names of organizations present or copies of tools.
