Iraqi Peace and Nonviolence Activists Launch Campaign to Stop Violence Against Women

On Sunday March 8th, International Women's Day, the La’Onf Nonviolence Group will salute Iraqi women with a day of activities and events to build support for a nationwide campaign promoting discussion and action on stopping violence against women.

Israeli Yaniv Rashef was a foot soldier in a sabotage unit of the Israeli Army – and chose to fight no more. Palestinian Bassam Aramin served seven years in jail for planning an attack against Israeli soldiers – and chose no more violence. 9/11 Family Advocate Beverly Eckert a Passenger in Buffalo Airliner Crash

Peaceful Tomorrows extends our heartfelt condolences to the family of Beverly Eckert, tragically killed in the Buffalo plane crash on Thursday, February 12th, and to all the families who have lost loved ones in this disaster. Beverly's husband, Sean Rooney, was killed in the attack on the World Trade Center on September 11th, 2001.

The War on What, Now?

In her book, The Dark Side, Jane Mayer recounts how the so-called “War on Terror” quickly became a challenge to American values. Mayer states that when it came to “fighting to liberate the world from Communism, Fascism, and Nazism, and working to ameliorate global ignorance & poverty, America had done more than any nation on Earth in the name of human rights.” She claims that, in the past seven years, the country has moved further from that sentiment than it has during any point in history.

Three Peaceful Tomorrows Members Deliver Speeches Supporting Closing Guantanamo

Peaceful Tomorrows members spoke at rallies in Washington, New York, and Boston, explaining why the Guantanamo Detentions and the Military Tribunals are incompatible with their search for justice.

On Wednesday, December 17, members of a number of organizations opposed to the military strategy in Afghanistan met in the offices of Senators John Kerry and Edward Kennedy to present the Peaceful Tomorrows report, "Afghanistan: Ending a Failed Military Strategy."

2009 Nonviolence Summer Institute7/6  -  7/6 - 7/16/09Nonviolence training, based on the philosophy and practices of Dr. King, will take place July 6-17 at the Center for Nonviolence and Peace Studies on the campus of the University of Rhode Island in Kingston, RI, USA. Dr. Bernard LaFayette, a global authority on the strategy of nonviolent social change and a disciple of Dr. King, will be the main facilitator.
