“Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that.”
Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
When the worst thing that ever happened to us became a reality, our September 11th families rose up and joined together and tried to make the world a better and more peaceful place for everyone. We can all keep that work going.
Despite divisive politics, it is clear that strength as a nation and world lies in unity. Today, the urgency to come together is greater than ever: how long and rough the road ahead is depends on what each of us commits to, and on whether we, on our journey forward, can ease the way for those friends who carry heavy burdens. Discarding fear, shedding hate—our loads will lighten. Peaceful tomorrows are still attainable through the promise of our combined efforts.
