Member Projects

Although we all met as a result of the same tragedy, every member of Peaceful Tomorrows brings unique talents and perspectives to their work inside and outside of our group. We'd like you to know about some of the good things being done by our membership in their own communities. Please click on the members' names for more details on their work.

Loretta Filipov - The Al Filipov Peace & Justice Forum

Among the victims on Flight 11, the first to crash into the World Trade Center, was Al Filipov, a beloved and dedicated member of Trinitarian Congregational Church and husband of Loretta Filipov, who would later become an active member of September 11th Families for Peaceful Tomorrows. Al was an engineer by training, but his family, friends, and fellow parishioners knew him as a family man, a true servant of the church, a human rights activist, painter, inventor, and a storyteller. He sought out the best in people and cared passionately about the world in its beauty and pain. Al earnestly believed in the power of the individual to make a positive difference in life. It is to his memory as well as to the fullness and faithfulness of his vision that the Al Filipov Peace & Justice Forum is dedicated.

After moving north, he took the idea with him and created the Alliance for Jewish-Christian-Muslim Understanding in Lexington, MA, where he now serves as executive director.. The Alliance's goal is to build bridges between people of the three Abrahamic religions. To achieve their goals, members of the alliance hold meetings, art shows, concerts, lectures and social gatherings.

Bruce Wallace - 121 Project

Bruce Wallace, a member of Peaceful Tomorrows and a high school teacher, had an extraordinary idea: opening correspondence between American students and their Iraqi counterparts in an effort to give a face to those living in war as well as allowing the students the opportunity to see how their similarities far outweighed their differences.
